Sooo…when do pitchers and catchers report?

5 November 2009 View Comments

The Yankees have done it. Again.

27 World Series wins. That is astronomical. Unheard of. We will probably never see that again.

Here is my congratulations. Hooray Yankee’s! Congrats to Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada & Andy Pettitte—you all got your “one for the thumb” and that can’t be taken away from you. yankeeswin

So, with all that said by one of the biggest Rays fans out there please read this Yankees fans….you have one week to celebrate the victory, then, I do not care to hear about it anymore.

It is no secret that I can not stand the Yankees, but what is even worse than the Yankees, is having to listen to a Yankees fan gloat. Nothing, and I repeat…NOTHING is worse than a Yankees fan after a World Series victory.

I would rather an appendectomy performed by a med school drop out, who is drunk and using only a rusty, bent fork than have to engage in a conversation with a Yankees fan after they just added another ring to the collection.

No matter how logical you try and make things sound to a pinstripe supporter, they will never agree with you.

Case in point…the Yankees spent more money to bring in C.C. Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, & A.J. Burnett than what last years AL Champs…the Tampa Bay Rays have invested in the entire 25 man payroll. Yet, you can’t tell a Yankee’s fan that they bought a ring this year.

Would the Yankees have been contenders without Sabathia, Teixeira & Burnett? Probably. Would they have won the World Series? No, probably not.

But try and tell that to a Yankee’s fan, and all you will hear is “We deserve to spend that kind of money because we win” that is it.

Standard issue response. I guess you get it when you purchase your first navy blue New Era cap with an NY on the front.

Another fine example of what drives me insane about a Yankee’s fan…as a whole, Yankee’s fans talk about championships and teams that they did NOT see play. Yes, the franchise has a great history…but come on, get real…you are 25 years old…you did not see Ty Cobb, Mickey Mantle or Roger Maris play, you really can’t take credit for being a fan during that era.

People like the Yankee’s because they win, or they were taught when they are young to like the Yankee’s.

When I lived in Florida, I can’t begin to tell you how many Yankee’s fans you would see walking down the street. Stop and ask any of them if they had ever lived in New York, or been to Yankees Stadium, and less than 20 percent would actually hail from the Big Apple.

Which tells me this…if they Yankees did not win, they would not have the following they see now….no one paid attention to the Rays, until they started garnering national attention for winning, then…all of the sudden, the Rays fans show up.

Band wagoners are everywhere, just no one has fallen off the Yankee’s band wagon because ole George spends money like Obama, and when you spend money like that in the world of sports, it is easy to put a winning product on the field each and every season.

So, once again, congratulations Yankees fans…”you” won another one. Take your time to celebrate, because remember, in a week, we will all be tired of listening to you.

Now…all that matters is…when do pitchers and catchers report?

I completely agree. Especially that Yankee fans are probably the most annoying people on the face of the planet, right before fans of Tim Tebow. There needs to be a salary cap in baseball. The Yankee's farm system is the rest of the league, even other big spending teams like the Red Sox, cannot keep up with their spending habbits. Any fan that does not believe this win to be won of great money is plain and simple, ignorant.

As a Red Sox fan, it seems unlikely that I would support a salary cap in baseball (being that the Sox have loads of cash as well,) however, I would love to see a salary cap in baseball! I thought the 08 season was awesome when the Rays stepped it up and competed in the division. However, the fact remains that they eventually will not have enough money to keep the players that built that team, and they will eventually wind up playing for another team with cash. As you've stated, a lot of fans are bandwagon fans, especially when it comes to baseball. The reason being, is because there are far too many 'bad teams' out there. No one in Kansas City wants to watch the Royals come in last place every season. If more teams had a fair shot at competing, it would make the season a lot more interesting for casual fans. Unfortunately, it takes winning for most fans to support their team. Great article!

Being from the Philadelphia area, I have grown to hate Yankees fans. I always knew that the New Yorker fans were a little more…. outspoken than we. However, I learned the true extent when I watched some local news coverage which showed Yankees fans getting seriously insulting newscasters who were covering the story. Who does that?!

I have a few Yankees fans as (very distant) friends and they're still talking about the win.

    Loved this article from you.
