Did Griffey Jr. leave the right way?

Mark the calendars. On June 2nd, 2010, legendary outfielder and ambassador for the game, Ken Griffey Jr. has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball.

When I was working at the Sports Editor for The Patriot Press, I was lucky enough to run into NFL safety Clinton Hart at a high school game I was covering for the St. Petersburg Times. I spoke with Hart at the game, and then again a few times on the phone. This is a piece I wrote during my time with the Citrus County Chronicle. It is about a brother and sister–Matt & Mettina Maggiore–who both excelled in the classroom and in multiple sports. I always enjoyed writing features better than game coverage because it was always more personal. I can say in all my year’s of covering sports, two of the better athletes I ever had the honor of interviewing.

My incredible NFL prediction skills…not!
For the first time in 8 years, I was able to watch every minute of every NFL Playoff game throughout the course of an entire weekend. Being that I was a slave to retail management since I was 19, of course, I never got my weekends off.
Now that I am working as an internet marketer in training, I have my weekends free.

During the early 2000′s, no women’s soccer team in central Florida could keep up with the Citrus High School Lady ‘Canes. They had a dominate program, and had several players move on to play at the collegiate level. This game was a great example of their skills.
