This was always one of my favorite rivalries to cover. There was never a boring game between these two schools, especially when the games were played in Lecanto. On a side note, I always have held coach Ron Allan in a very high regard. He was a great motivator, teacher, coach and mentor to the student athletes he had a chance to mold.

CRYSTAL RIVER – Tuesday was a good day for Crystal River. The boys team easily handled Citrus, winning 109-76, and a full complement of divers helped the Pirates girls to a 97-86 win.
“I knew with the girls that it was going to be very, very close,” Crystal River coach Tim Holme said. “(Citrus) didn’t have any divers, so it made a difference.”

LECANTO — The Panthers just keep on rolling.
Lecanto swept Crystal River 7-0, improving to 10-0 and 77-1 in its past 78 regular-season matches.
“If everybody stays healthy, we should continue to do fine,” Lecanto coach Joan Roberts said. Nisha Shah downed former teammate Jennifer Rimes 8-5, 6-2 to win the No. 1 match.

LECANTO–Following a no hit performance against Dunnellon High School in her last outing, sophomore Ashley Rogers drove in four runs to help boost Hernando High school to an 11-2 victory over Lecanto High School Wednesday night in Lecanto.
“Ashley has done well this year,” said Hernando coach Ernie Chatmen. “She has been pitching well, and has done an overall solid job for us.”
